Press Play: Truth by Alexander

This beautiful song is a testament to our imperfect selves. Each of us have qualities and flaws we would love to change. We all have a shadow- a dark side, an ego or a past  that we often mask or try to forget. However, even in our darkness we are beautiful individuals and we are still able to SHINE. The “truth” is that we must accept ourselves as a whole and just as the song goes “have faith in ourselves” to move into the light.

Enjoy! And love your yin yang self!

TBT: Floyd Fest

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Festival Season is upon us!

Like any free spirit, we LOVE festivals. Music festivals, art and craft festivals, hiker festivals, food festivals- we love them all! And since we are leaving for Shaky Knees in the morning, we thought it would be appropriate to do a Throw Back Thursday- FESTIVAL STYLE!

Today’s TBT takes us back to Floyd Fest. Last year Jodi and I had the opportunity to experience our first trip to Floyd Fest together. And we had a complete blast! We love reminiscing on these old memories before we create some new ones!

Hike in camping! As many problems our little red wagon gave us, we loved camping in the woods. Unlike, Bonnaroo and other festivals where you are right on top of your neighbor and their car.

Lounging in the hammock we set up across a stream . . .

while we watched the boys play on the slackline.

We couldn’t pass up taking a group photo with the giant “LOVE."

Hanging out in the beer garden.

Hanging out in the beer garden some more.

YOGA! The yoga class we took was amazing and inspiring. It felt so good to stretch after dancing all night and then sleeping on the ground.

Getting dirty in the mud.

Oh the mud . . .

Other memories that were not captured due to living completely in the moment include:

Silent disco dancing, standing hours in the torrential rain pour, shopping at the magical crystal both, hula hooping, making prayer flags, jamming to the Lumineers, Edward Sharpe and The Devil Makes Three and frequently visiting the organic farmers market.

Bring on Shaky Knees!! Anyone else going?

Songs for Spring

To celebrate the season, we put together a playlist of breezy, happy songs for you to tap your feet to this Spring! And as promised we put Awake My Bodyone of our favorites, at the top of our collection.  I (Amber) have also been really digging the 5 member Nashville band, Moon Taxi. Be sure to check them out— good stuff.
We hope you enjoy and feel inspired to do something awesome today!

Awake My Body

Source: Pinterest

The First Day of Spring has brought with it a spell of deep reflection— a reflection on life and how we as human beings live it. So many of us (myself included) walk through life nearly dead. No passion, no purpose, no zeal for living. Many of us, zombies just trying to get by. We are bogged down with 50 hour work weeks at a job we don’t even care about. We are disgusted at ourselves for whatever reason. We are too concerned with each others life that we forget to live our own.

Well thank goodness God gave us Spring to remind us that we can be reborn into a new person. Spring is natures way of saying WAKE UP humans! Go and live life in a beautiful way. Nature is my guide and my inspiration. As I watch mother nature decorate the earth with flowers, butterflies and sunshine, I am filled with hope.  Hope that this world will wake up and start living.

As the planet enters into a state of renewal, I will too. Shedding the old, making way for the new. Put this song by Alexander on the top of your Spring playlist!

Go forward and live!

four days of living in the moment

I am so excited.
We are leaving for Floyd Fest in the morning- bright and early. I’m actually in the midst of packing, but had to stop and document this moment of pure exctiement. Festivals are where I feel most at home- so much love, art and people of every kind. My goal is to be completely and utterly committed to the moment. I am always juggling so much mentally and multi tasking usually every second of the day that I don’t get to fully experience a single thing. And that can be a problem sometimes. Things go by without me even feeling them go by because I’m already on to the next thing!
Living in the moment is so blissful, yet often rare in this busy world.
So for the next 4 days I am pledging to live in the moment. I want to take in the smell of the earth and the sound of each instrument and the taste of greasy food truck french fries and the sight of one-of-a-kind pieces of art. I want to wander through the tents and hear people laughing, like really laughing. I want to let the music move me however it wants to. I want to connect with the people I meet and the people I am traveling with. I want to feel so and and so on. This is life. Right now, is what you have. Feel it. Experience it.
Planning on watching these beautiful gypsies at Floyd.
Enjoy, Amber
